| CREDIT UNION VISA | HELP THEM CHOOSE WISELY As our children transition into adulthood, they are bombarded with "great" offers - endorsements like "free" t-shirts, computers, pizza and movie tickets. They are lured into credit card agreements that may not be right for them. Credit for first time users is readily available and many young adults are fooled by teaser rates and showered with free gifts. Look to the Fairless Credit Union for a VISA Credit Card that doesn't carry any "hooks", "lines", or "sinkers" to grab their hard earned dollars! The history they establish now will follow them for years; let us help by providing the appropriate financial products to insure a safe and financially sound credit history. Be sure to start the young adult you know off on the right foot, have them contact one of our Member Service Representatives today! Stop by either branch or call: 215-295-4108 or 267-580-0230.

| SHARE INSURANCE | President Obama signed the "Helping Families Save Their Homes Act" into law on May 20, 2009. The law includes may provisions to help families stay in their homes, but the law also includes an extension of the $250,000 deposit insurance protection, for all credit union members of state and federally-insured credit unions, through 2013. The increase in the deposit insurance was first put into place last Fall. The extension affects all credit union members by helping to assure every member that their deposits are safe and fully backed by the federal government. Member accounts at state and federally-insured credit unions are insured up to the Standard Maximum Share Insurance Amount (SMSIA). Each member is individually insured up to $250,000 per state and federally-insured credit union. Joint account holders are insured up to $250,000 per joint account holder. For example, joint accounts with two account holders are insured up to $500,000. Any joint accounts are insured separately from individual accounts. Retirement accounts, like IRA and KEOGH accounts, ar also insured up to $250,000 and insured separately from all other accounts. If you have any questions about your particular situation, please contact the credit union and we will be able to answer any questions you may have about your level of insurance protection.

| COVERDELL SAVINGS ACCOUNT |
The ABCs Of CESAs Know a child who needs help with school expenses? Then you should know about a CESA. CESA is a Coverdell Education Savings Account, also called an ESA. As long as certain income restrictions are met, it's a great way to save for school expenses, especially college costs, because money in the account accumulates tax-free. Plus, there are no taxes on the funds withdrawn from the account when the money is used for "qualified education expenses," as determined by the Internal Revenue Service. The beneficiary of the account must be younger than 18 or qualify as a special needs beneficiary. The sooner you make contributions, the better. Others can add to the CESA, too, so it makes a great gift. There is a limit of $2,000 per year. That means if you saved $500 in your child's CESA this year, others could contribute the remaining $1,500. Complete details are available in Chapter 7 of IRS Publication 970. Check it out, then call or stop by the credit union and open your CESA today. |

| HOME EQUITY LOANS | Still A Smart Way To Borrow The housing bubble may have burst, but that doesn't necessarily mean you've lost all the equity in your home. While the value of many houses has dropped, if you have lived in your home for a few years and are current on your mortgage payments, you will likely have built up some equity. And if you need money for major home repairs or renovations, a new vehicle, or other productive purpose, tapping that equity can be a smart way to borrow. That's because the interest on your home equity loan may be tax deductible; consult your tax advisor for more information. In addition to potential tax savings, a home equity loan can provide you with more favorable terms than other loans or sources of credit. For example, if you are planning to replace your leaky roof or your drafty windows, a home equity loan will certainly cost you less than running up charges on your credit card at the home improvement center. If you need cash, a home equity loan may be just the ticket. So stop by or call the credit union today to find out more.
